Rail Freight Group: Annual Scottish Conference
RFG is delighted that Minister for Transport, Ms Fiona Hyslop MSP, and Alex Hynes, Managing Director, Scotland’s Railway, will both be presenting at the RFG’s Annual Scottish Conference this year. The event will be held on Wednesday 6 March at the Leapark Hotel, Grangemouth.
With growth and performance targets now established in Scotland, Ms Hyslop will give the keynote speech and Mr Hynes will give an update on Network Rail’s achievements and plans for Scotland’s Railway.
In terms of critical connectivity, the conference will hear from David Gordon, Principal Programme Sponsor of the West Coast Upgrade programme, TRILINK, and from Forth Ports Grangemouth, Scotland’s largest container terminal and a key hub for many of Scotland’s imports and exports.
Stephen Canning from Stantec will share how publicly funded transport-related infrastructure initiatives, including those for freight, are identified and appraised under the STAG process.
Speakers have also been invited to share insights into what our sector could be doing to improve its attractiveness to new talent in a competitive employer market, and from a market opportunity perspective, how the agricultural sector is collaborating and changing to evolve its supply chains and to explore rail’s potential role.
The meeting will run from 9 am until 1 pm, with an optional coach tour of the Port of Grangemouth after lunch. After the tour, the coach will return guests to Falkirk Station and the Leapark Hotel.
On the previous evening, Tuesday 5 March, RFG will be holding an informal dinner at the Leapark Hotel for anyone attending the conference.
